No. 8 Bass Pro Shops / Caterpillar Chevrolet
Started: 3rd
Finished: 17th
Synopsis:
Hemric was shuffled out of the draft early in the race, then the team was hit with a pit road penalty which put the 8 car one lap down. With only one caution during the 60-lap race, there was no opportunity to recover. The silver lining being the Bass Pro Shops / Caterpillar Chevrolet was unscathed and will start the 61st running of the Daytona 500 in the 29th position.
From Daniel:
"I feel like we learned what we needed to go race on Sunday. It was cool to start near the front of the field with this No. 8 Bass Pro Shops / Caterpillar Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The top lane formed up and I could not get off the bottom quick enough and lost the draft early on. We were just trying to keep digging and shake everything down at that point, then we had a pit road penalty for having the crew member over the wall too soon and lost a lap. We were in a spot to get our lap back for a while, but when that caution came out Tyler Reddick had just been lapped and got the free pass. We learned some good things in the draft at the end of the race, so we will clean some things up and focus on the task at hand for Sunday's Daytona 500."
