Hemric Fights for his Fifth Top 10 Finish



Daniel Hemric Finishes Ninth at Atlanta Motor Speedway

  • Daniel Hemric started from the 11th position.

  • Hemric moved up to 10th early in the race, but an ill-handling race car found him running 15th when the caution flag flew on lap 20.

  • Crew chief Dave Rogers opted to keep his driver on the racing surface during the caution and he restarted 15th.

  • Hemric’s Poppy Bank Supra began to come to life and he began to work his way up the scoring pylon when another caution flag flew on lap 35.

  • The late-stage caution forced a one lap shootout and Hemric took the green checkered eighth.

  • Rogers called Hemric to pit road for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment during the caution period between stages.

Stage 2 Recap (Laps 41-80)

  • After a pit stop under the stage caution Hemric started stage two in the 11th position

  • Hemric would hold the position throughout the second stage to finish 11th.

  • The team would come to pit road under the stage caution for four fresh tires, fuel and adjustments to help with the handling on his No. 18 Poppy Bank Supra.


Stage 3 Recap (Laps 81-163)

  • Hemric’s started the final stage ninth

  • Hemric’s No. 18 Poppy Bank Supra came to life and he was running sixth right before a caution flag flew on lap 112.

  • Rogers summoned his driver to pit road four tires, fuel and adjustments. During the stop, Hemric was penalized for a crew member over the wall to soon and was forced to start in the rear of the field.

  • Hemric’s never give up attitude saw him slowly work his way through the field in the closing laps. He crossed the finish line ninth for his fifth top 10 finish of the 2010 season.
