Daniel Hemric picked up the hardware for his hard fought Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award in Nashville, Tenn. during the post season awards week for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Hemric won the title by outlasting fellow rookie Ryan Preece, winning the final standings by a margin of 23 points.
When awarded with the trophy, Hemric noted, the race with Preece was “a grind—and it wasn‘t flashy. Neither one of us could put four or five straight weeks together.”
