No. 18 Poppy Bank Toyota Supra News and Notes

  • HEMRIC AT MICHIGAN: Daniel Hemric earned a runner-up finish in his most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Michigan International Speedway back in 2018. The Kannapolis, North Carolina native finished 12th in his first Xfinity Series start at Michigan in 2017. He has also made four starts in other series (two NASCAR Cup Series, two Camping World Truck Series) at the two-mile track. His best Cup Series finish at Michigan was a 12th-place run in June 2019. He finished seventh and third in two Truck Series starts at the track.

  • INDIANAPOLIS RECAP: Hemric finished 12th in last weekend’s race at the Indianapolis road course. After starting 13th and finishing 11th in stage one, the No. 18 team was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop during stage two because of a tire rub from contact with another car. He fought back into the top 10 at one point before ultimately ending the day with a 12th-place finish.

  • LOOP DATA: Hemric’s strong season is evident in the Loop Data provided by NASCAR. The 30-year-old driver leads the Xfinity Series in fastest drivers late in a run and laps run on the lead lap. He ranks in the top five in numerous categories, including top-five finishes, top-10s, laps led, average finishing position, average running position, driver rating, fastest drivers early in a run, fastest laps run, green flag speed, laps in the top 15, and speed by segment.

  • ROGERS’ RESUME: Crew chief Dave Rogers is no stranger to victory lane at Michigan International Speedway after leading Kyle Busch to a Cup Series win at the track in 2011 and guiding Denny Hamlin to an Xfinity Series victory in 2007. In four Xfinity Series starts atop the pit box at Michigan, Rogers’ drivers posted two top-five finishes, three top-10s and 106 laps led. In 14 Cup Series races, Rogers’ teams claimed four top-five finishes, six top-10s and 82 laps led.

  • POPPY BANK: Poppy Bank will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 18 Supra in Saturday’s race at Michigan International Speedway. Poppy Bank is a 5-star rated organization and is recognized as one of the strongest financial institutions in the country. Since opening its first branch in 2005, Poppy Bank has grown to over $3 Billion in assets with branches across the San Francisco Bay Area, Roseville, and Southern California.

  • JGR AT MICHIGAN: The Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity Series team owns five victories at Michigan. Overall, the organization has accumulated 18 top-five finishes, 32 top-10s and 414 laps led in 49 combined starts at the two-mile track. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Daniel Suárez have all driven JGR entries to Xfinity Series victory lane at Michigan.

Daniel Hemric, Driver of the No. 18 Poppy Bank Toyota Supra What are your thoughts getting back on ovals starting this weekend at Michigan? “I’m looking forward to getting to Michigan this weekend and back to the ovals as we start to gear up for the Playoffs in the next month or so. I know Dave (Rogers, crew chief) and our guys are working nonstop to keep improving our Poppy Bank Supras and to make sure we’re in the best position possible for this stretch of races. I think Michigan is a great place for me and JGR cars run well at Michigan and on the intermediate tracks in general, so I have a lot of confidence going into this weekend.”
