No. 18 Poppy Bank Toyota Supra News and Notes

  • HEMRIC AT INDIANAPOLIS: Daniel Hemric did not race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course last season, but he does have a pair of starts on the track’s historic 2.5-mile oval layout. In those starts, Hemric finished eighth and fifth.

  • ROAD COURSES STATS: Saturday’s race in Indianapolis will be Hemric’s 16th career Xfinity Series start on a road course. Through 15 races on road courses, Hemric has tallied six top-five finishes and seven top-10s, including a runner-up finish at Road America last month and a third-place finish at Daytona earlier this season.

  • LOOP DATA: Hemric’s strong season is evident in the Loop Data provided by NASCAR. The 30-year-old driver leads the Xfinity Series in laps run on the lead lap and ranks in the top five in numerous categories, including top-five finishes, top-10s, laps led, average finishing position, average running position, driver rating, fastest drivers late in a run, fastest laps run, green flag speed, laps in the top 15, quality passes, and speed by segment.

  • POPPY BANK: Poppy Bank will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 18 Supra in Saturday’s race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. Poppy Bank is a 5-star rated organization and is recognized as one of the strongest financial institutions in the country. In 25 combined starts, the organization racked up nine top-five finishes, 15 top-10s and 348 laps led. In the Xfinity Series’ first race on the road course last year, JGR cars finished 25th, 33rd and 37th.

  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, at 4 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network, IMS Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

What is your mindset racing the Indianapolis Road Course for the first time?

“We’re looking forward to challenge this weekend. It will be great to have some practice time on Friday and qualifying Saturday morning to get some laps and reps on the track, but the simulator time this week is going to be huge for myself and the team. I feel like I say it every time we go to one of these places, but our road course program has been so good this year. That gives me a lot of confidence as a driver that the car is going to be where it needs to be right from the start and we just have to avoid situations like we saw last week where we get in a bad spot and get caught up in someone else’s mistake that gets us off track.”
