No. 18 Poppy Bank Toyota Supra News and Notes

  • HEMRIC AT ATLANTA: Daniel Hemric has one top-five finish and three top-10s in four career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Earlier this year, Hemric overcame a pit road penalty during the final stage to finish ninth at the 1.54-mile track. He also posted a fourth-place finish in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition in 2016.

  • ROAD AMERICA RECAP: Last weekend at Road America, Hemric ran inside the top five for much of the event until a penalty for a pit crew member over the wall too soon sent the No. 18 Supra to the rear of the field with 16 laps to go. He clawed his way back into contention and rallied from 10th to second in the final six laps to earn his seventh top-five finish of the season.

  • 1.5-MILE TRACKS: In 34 career Xfinity Series starts on 1.5-mile tracks, Hemric has tallied 13 top-five finishes, 23 top-10s and 413 laps led. In five races at 1.5-mile tracks this season, he has claimed three top-five finishes, four top-10s, 192 laps led and three stage wins.

  • LOOP DATA: Hemric’s strong season is evident in the Loop Data provided by NASCAR. The 30-year-old driver leads the Xfinity Series in laps run on the lead lap and ranks in the top five in numerous categories, including top-five finishes, top-10s, laps led, average finishing position, average running position, driver rating, fastest drivers late in a run, fastest laps run, green flag speed, laps in the top 15, quality passes, and speed by segment.

  • ROGERS’ RESUME: Crew chief Dave Rogers’ experience at Atlanta Motor Speedway includes a NASCAR Cup Series victory with Kyle Busch in 2013. In 10 Cup Series starts at Atlanta, Rogers’ teams earned three top-five finishes, four top-10s and led 158 laps. Rogers’ Xfinity Series resume at Atlanta includes three top-10 finishes and 153 laps led in six starts.

Talk about going back to Atlanta for a second time with JGR…

“I am looking forward to this weekend. The first Atlanta race did not go how we wanted by any means, but we were able to come back to the shop and really figure out what happened and learn from that. I feel like Atlanta is a good place for me personally, but also the 1.5-mile tracks have been one of our strong points so far this season. That’s all because of Dave Rogers, our Poppy Bank team and all the tools that we have to work with thanks to TRD. I’m excited to go back to a track for the second time with JGR and be able to look back at notes we have working together that will absolutely make us better this time around.”
